Price, Editions & Deluxe Extras

Two editions, a $20 gap, and one substantive difference. The publisher has said publicly that $39.99 was a deliberate price point rather than a discount, so it is worth understanding what the extra twenty dollars buys before you decide.

Standard Edition

Confirmed

$39.99

€39.99 · 149.99 zł

  • Valor Mortis base game
  • Day-one access across PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

The default purchase. At $39.99 this is priced below the modern full-price soulslike, and the publisher has said publicly that the price point was a deliberate decision rather than a discount.

Best for: Anyone. If you have Game Pass, you may not need to buy it at all on day one.

Deluxe Edition

Confirmed

$59.99

€59.99 · 199.99 zł

  • Valor Mortis base game
  • A major story DLC, scheduled for 2027
  • A set of cosmetic packs released across the launch window

The $20 premium buys one substantive thing and one cosmetic thing. The story DLC is the real value; the skins are the reason a completionist buys it early. Hands-on coverage of the demo was blunt that $60 for a roughly 20-hour linear experience is hard to justify up front, and suggested waiting unless you know you want the DLC.

Best for: Players who already know they will want the 2027 story expansion, or who want the cosmetics at launch.

There is no pre-order, and that changes the decision

There are no pre-orders and nothing to pre-purchase. The publisher answered the question directly in their own Steam post: they want the finished game to make the argument rather than a trailer. In practice that makes this one of the few full-price games where there is genuinely nothing to decide before you see reviews: no discount window, no cosmetic you can miss, no version of the game that only exists for people who committed early.

The consequence most people have not thought through is the preload. Preloads exist because pre-orders exist. With no pre-orders there is no preload window either, so the 50 GB download begins at the moment the game unlocks rather than hours before it. If your connection is slow, the real launch time for you is the unlock instant plus however long 50 GB takes, and no amount of being ready on the day changes that. Pre-loading the Steam client and clearing space beforehand is the only preparation available.

  • No pre-order bonus, so there is no cosmetic or currency you can miss by buying at launch instead.

  • No pre-order preload. Because pre-orders do not exist, there is no preload window, and the 50 GB download starts when the game unlocks. If your connection is slow, that delay is the real launch time for you, not the published unlock instant.

  • No price incentive to commit early. The publisher announced $39.99 as the permanent price rather than a launch discount, so there is no window to miss.

Buying advice, by situation

You were waiting to pre-order

You cannot. There are no pre-orders, no pre-purchase and no preload. Buying on launch day is identical to buying early would have been, which makes this the rare game where there is genuinely no reason to decide before you see reviews.

You have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Play it on day one at no extra cost. There is no early access tier to upgrade into, so nothing is lost by waiting for launch.

You are on PS5

There is no version on PlayStation Plus at launch. $39.99 or the $59.99 Deluxe are the only routes.

You are unsure whether the combat is for you

The free demo is gone. Watch the official gameplay overview trailer instead; it breaks down exactly the systems that decide whether you will enjoy this.

You want it on PC

Check the system requirements page before buying. 50 GB and a 16 GB memory floor are the headline numbers.

What the free updates actually promise

The publisher states that several free updates will arrive in the weeks and months after launch, adding more ways to play. No contents and no dates have been announced. Read that as a stated intention rather than a roadmap: it is the studio's answer to criticism that build variety is thin, and it is worth nothing until it ships.

What the Deluxe DLC promises

A major story DLC in 2027, telling a new story in the same world. That is the entire published description. If you are buying Deluxe specifically for the expansion, you are buying a 2027 commitment at 2026 prices, on the strength of one sentence.
