Justicar Aurelius Boss Guide
ConfirmedHigh Justicar Aurelius, Last of the Faithful

Chapter VII
True Oath
Defeat Justicar Aurelius.
Aurelius was the second demo boss, arriving at the end of a Chapter VII that the studio has since confirmed was a bespoke reconstruction rather than the retail chapter. It dropped players into a maze of plague-hardened streets with a full kit they had not earned. Hands-on write-ups describe him as the purest duelist in the demo: a swordfight with no summons, no arena gimmick and no way to brute-force past him. If Lothaire teaches you that trading is a losing strategy, Aurelius is the pop quiz.

Threats and how to answer them
Multi-hit combos
ReportedTell: He steps in and commits to a sequence rather than a single cut.
Answer: Parry inside the string, break posture, then counterattack. Do not answer the final hit with your own attack.
Counterattack on your recovery
InferenceTell: You swing into his guard and he is already moving.
Answer: Only attack after a confirmed posture break. One safe hit beats three speculative ones.
The approach
Before you walk in
- Keep Target Lock on for the whole fight; the camera is not your friend here.
- Bring a full stack of Ferrofluid Flasks. This is an endurance fight by design.
- Expect to lose the first three attempts to timing, not to build. That is normal.
The loop that wins
- Bait the combo. Stay just inside his range so he starts the string instead of repositioning.
- Parry early in the string, confirm posture break, land the critical.
- Reset. Repeat. Do not add a greedy swing to a good sequence.
What loses the fight
- Do not circle-strafe looking for a blind spot. Coverage describes him as a fight with no cheese angle.
- Do not burst him. His health bar is not the objective; his stagger bar is.
Weaknesses and loadout
What it is weak to
- Predictable string structure: he commits to fixed combinations, which are the punish windows once you stop flinching.
- Posture: this fight is won on the stagger bar, not the health bar.
- Patience: overextending is your failure state, not his strength.
Suggested loadout
- Melee
- Rapier rewards precise counter-windows more than the saber
- Firearm
- Hold the pistol for the moment he is locked in a long animation
- Transmutation
- Whatever you have that is instant; long casts get you killed here
- Amber
- Anything that returns health on hits keeps the attempt alive long enough to learn the pattern
Rewards
- True Oath trophy / achievement
- Chapter VII clear
Enemies in this encounter
Risen Sapeur
ConfirmedDodge, do not block. Its blows are described as breaking guard and punching through a held defence.
Eternal Guardsman
ConfirmedParry its attack rather than trading, then punish the posture break. Bait the combo and answer inside it.
