Iron Marshall Boss Guide
ReportedThe Iron Marshall
Named by the trophy list. Everything else is a hypothesis until launch.
Full game
Ultima Ratio Regum
Defeat The Iron Marshall.
The Iron Marshall exists. That much is certain: the published trophy list attaches "Ultima Ratio Regum" (Latin for "the last argument of kings", historically engraved on cannon) to killing it. Nothing in pre-release footage has shown the fight, so what follows is a reading of the name and the game's confirmed systems rather than a strategy guide. Use it to plan, then correct it in-game.

Threats and how to answer them
Ranged suppression
InferenceTell: theorycraft: heavy fire from a fixed position while you close distance.
Answer: Use Grapple points and cover to close the gap. The publisher's overview trailer frames Grapple as environment traversal, not just combat.
Armoured body
InferenceTell: theorycraft: blades glance.
Answer: Weak point hits are a confirmed system. Aim, do not swing.
The approach
Before you walk in
- Assume a hybrid fight. Carry at least one ranged option and one heavy melee.
- Bank Catalysts before the door so a death does not cost you a level's worth of currency.
The loop that wins
- Read the arena before you commit. Confirmed systems include weak points and environmental traversal; both usually mean the room is part of the fight.
- Test whether fire, shield or raw melee is the answer, then commit hard to whichever is working.
What loses the fight
- Do not assume the Souls default of hug-and-circle. Valor Mortis punishes passivity with stamina cost, not with a free hit.
Weaknesses and loadout
What it is weak to
- Name suggests artillery or heavy plating: expect a weak point rather than a damage race.
- The trophy's motto is a cannon inscription, which points at a ranged-pressure encounter.
Suggested loadout
- Melee
- Claymore if the target is plated and slow
- Firearm
- Musket for range and power over the default pistol
- Transmutation
- Shield absorbs and returns damage, which suits a fight you have to walk into
- Amber
- Any. Nothing in the confirmed record makes this fight build-dependent.
Rewards
- Ultima Ratio Regum trophy / achievement
Enemies in this encounter
Risen Grenadier
ConfirmedStay mobile and close the distance. Shooting the bucket off its head is a trophy in its own right, which tells you the head is a legitimate target.
